Who we are

What we collect and why

Enquiries. What you type into the land review form: your name, how to reach you, where the land is and what you tell us about it. We use it to look at the land and reply. Our lawful basis is that you asked us to. It is stored in a database held by Cloudflare in the European Union and read by Iain. It is not passed to anyone else and it is not used for marketing.

Letters to landowners. Where we write to an owner we have not met, the name and address come from HM Land Registry, a public register. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest: a single letter about a specific piece of land, with a plain way to say no. We record every request to stop and honour it.

This website. We set no advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare, which serves the site, keeps short lived technical logs to keep it running and secure.

Email. Our thank you and notification emails are sent through Resend, an email service, under our own account. They carry only what you sent us.

How long we keep it

An enquiry that leads nowhere is deleted after twelve months. One that becomes a site stays for the life of the matter and six years after, as the law on contracts requires. A request to stop is kept for as long as we send letters, so that we do not write to you again.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold, ask for it to be corrected or deleted and object to our using it. Email hello@thelandbuyer.uk or reply to any message from us. We answer within a month, usually within days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
